We exist in several different conscious states during our lives.
There is the dream state, our imagination, our emotions and our waking consciousness.
You could say that they are different compartments in a filing cabinet or different rooms of a house.
Day in and day out they have become familiar to us, so that we unconsciously accept them and they are a part of our personal identity.
We are so used to them that we hardly notice the changing between them. We are hypnotized into them. Much like robots or zombies.
An aware person pays attention to all their separate states of existence. An unaware person will not.
The awakened person knows that self knowledge is becoming conscious of them.
Our awakening is much the same as waking from an overnight sleep. Consciously we must adjust to the new day as the fog clears from our mind.
One other room exists in our personal house and it is so big that all the others will fit into it. It is the room of our true self.
Our true self is consciously awake to everything in life, both the seen and the unseen. It is free to accept everything and without judgement.
Only those who sleep walk are unconscious of their surroundings. To be awake is to be alive to everything. To know and understand the truth behind it all.
