The mundane are always symbols for the more profane truths of life.
For many marriage has been an experience of hell on earth.
Those who failed to own their stuff and forgive.
Marriage and the urge to feel complete are why we seek to unite with another.
By the way it does not necessarily mean of the same sex.
In our world it is a symbol for wholeness and completion and the possibility of new birth and the continuation of life.
It also represents our dualistic system of incompleteness and the need to discover another.
Our ego seeks to find completion in the outer world, but seldom finds it.
The hunger for completion will drive us all of our lives.
