Meditation reveals many things about life.
It can show that higher states of consciousness exist.
It can also reveal the grip our ego has on us.
Fear loves to hide this grip from us, but we know it is there.
It is the dark resistance to change within us.
Some call it our shadow self.
It is a reality and not a figment of our imagination.
In the bible there is a story of Christ going into the desert to fast for 40 days and nights.
I don’t know if that is possible or healthy, but it is not what it seems.
The writer implied that he faced the devil and battled with temptation.
To me this is a story of projection where just as we project onto a god we are also projecting onto a devil or Satan.
It is a refusal to take full responsibility for our life and our power.
It is an attempt to make ourselves victims of life and not creators of our lives.
To me the story is a classic parable of our struggle with our ego.
Christ was not facing the devil, but his own ego and the resistance we face to let go of it or surrender it.
Our ego has deep tentacles and will not surrender easily.
Not until we have seen how far it has corrupted us from achieving our higher consciousness.
Robert.
This is the best explanation of 'the devil' I've ever come across. It is so profound, and no doubt totally true.
WOW, Robert. This post is deeply profound. It clearly defines our Ego and just how powerful it is. Thank you for waking me up to that.
