Unless a person has a major shift in consciousness they will not change overnight. Such a change may be needed under certain circumstances, but it is not ideal.
The shock to our mental and emotional self would be enormous. Imagine the effect of pulling out the plug on a computer while it is backing up data. Our mind and emotions need time to adjust and process an influx of awareness in consciousness.
We need to compare our new insights against our old beliefs and discern if they hold truth. It takes time for us to build trust in our awakening self. We do not toss the baby out with the bath water. Over time truth and discovery will stick and old beliefs fade away.
Confusion and disorientation are normal in the beginning as the identity we are used to is adjusting to new realizations.
We are not swapping old beliefs for new ones, but actually a new life for an old one. This change will bring a new understanding of ourselves and the concept of reality.
And you will know the truth and it shall set you free.
